Pr Dominique Soldati-Favre member of the US National Academy of Sciences

Dominique Soldati-Favre, professor in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Medicine at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine, and member of the Geneva Centre for Inflammation Research, has been elected an international member of the US National Academy of Sciences.  This nomination recognizes not only her remarkable achievements in original scientific research but also the exceptional work of her team over the years. She joins the NAS Section « Animal, Nutritional, and Applied Microbial Sciences ».

An internationally recognised specialist in the field of apicomplexan parasitology, her expertise focuses on the biology of parasites responsible for human and animal diseases such as malaria and toxoplasmosis. She studies the mechanisms involved in parasite invasion and survival in host cells in order to identify their weaknesses and thus contribute to the development of innovative preventive or therapeutic strategies.

Dominique Soldati-Favre has been a member of the European Molecular Biology Organisation since 2011 and was elected to the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences in 2014. She was also vice-dean of the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine from 2011 to 2023, in charge of supporting basic research.
