Doctoral Program in Global Health

The Institute of Global Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva (UNIGE), in collaboration with the Swiss School of Public Health+ , presents the first PhD track in global health created as partly online distance program.The PhD curriculum is not only relevant to all health professionals at all career levels in the global context, but it is also ideal for those who wish to broaden and deepen their understanding of health applying global health approaches.

A word from the director

"Promoting and developping an implementation research in the field of global health"

This innovative doctoral program was founded as a response to the urgent need of developing implementation research in the field of public and global health, using transdisciplinary approach. The primary goal of the PhD in global health program is to train candidates to be able to bridge existing gaps between practical knowledge, academic and research skills in the field of global health.

The PhD program combines both onsite and distance learning approaches allowing a PhD candidate to work in his or her respective country. The PhD candidate can continue to work fulll time in his or her current position, providing a full support is given by the employer allowing the collaborator to follow the onsite courses, to conduct research benefiting the institution, and to publish it as a first author in peer-review journals under the supervision of a professor from the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine.
