Abstract
Introduction: Management of patients with neuro-orthopaedic disorders require knowledge on identifying the disorder itself and the adapted choice of care. Instrumented gait analysis is commonly used to obtain valuable information on disorders in order to select the best treatment option. To answer a local need, a movement laboratory will be implemented at BPKIHS in Dharan (Nepal).
Aim: The aim of this project is threefold. (1) Evaluate the impact of the laboratory installation on patients' follow-up, (2) monitor collected data quality, and (3) evaluate the developed expertise.
Methods: (1) The number of patients referred to another health center and the number of patients supported at BPKIHS will be calculated before and after the opening of the laboratory. The difference between the supported patients will be used as an indicator of success. (2) A convenient sample of healthy adults will complete an instrumented gait analysis. Intra- and inter- assessors reliability at BPKIHS and inter-laboratory (BPKIHS-HUG) reliability will be evaluated. (3) Clinical cases from the HUG and from BPKIHS will be used. Each of the cases will be discussed by each team. In each case, the disorders will be identified and the planned follow-up will be compared between the two institutions.
