1^ère étape: sélection de 5 doctorant-es après une audition devant un jury composé de 4 professeur-es et de 3 professionnel-les de la communication. Les 5 doctorant-es selectionné-es recevront un subside de CHF 10'000 chacun-e à utiliser, par exemple, pour participer à des meetings internationaux, pour suivre des cours de formation en ligne, pour visiter des laboratoires à l’étranger ou encore pour couvrir les frais d’impression de leur thèse.

2^e étape: production de courtes vidéos pour présenter en 3 minutes sa thèse à un public non scientifique et rédaction d'une fiche de présentation. Les vidéos et les fiches sont ensuite mises en ligne sur le site internet de la Faculté de médecine, ainsi que, pour les vidéos, sur les réseaux sociaux de l'UNIGE.

• Cette démarche concerne exclusivement les étudiant-es PhD/MD-PhD en sciences biomédicales de la Faculté de médecine ainsi que les étudiant-es PSLS.

• Les candidat-es doivent avoir complété 18 mois de thèse au minimum le 31 mars 2023 et terminer leur doctorat APRES juin 2024 (afin d'avoir le temps d’utiliser le subside).

• Les doctorant-es sélectionné-es s’engagent à respecter le planning, à se préparer le mieux possible pour l’enregistrement vidéo et à préparer le résumé du projet de thèse sur 1 page (FR ou ENG).
• Les projets de thèse seront présentés oralement en anglais exclusivement (lors des auditions et des vidéos).
• Avoir informé votre directeur ou directrice de thèse de votre participation et réglé les questions de propriété intellectuelle.

Important :

• Les candidat-es doivent obligatoirement participer aux auditions le 31 mars en présentiel exclusivement. 
• Nous limitons le nombre de participant-es à 24 candidat-es. Nous donnerons la priorité aux candidat-es qui postulent pour la première fois si nous reçevons un nombre de candidatures trop importante.
• Pour soumettre votre candidature, vous devez remplir le formulaire et envoyer le résumé vulgarisé de votre projet de thèse (max. 250 mots).
• Une séance Q&A aura lieu le 24 mars CET à 11h00 via Zoom. Votre présence n'est pas obligatoire.

• Un subside de CHF 10'000 pour chacun-e des 5 doctorant-es sélectionné-es
• Possibilité de développer des compétences en communication, synthèse, vulgarisation, etc.

Les candidat-es doivent participer aux auditions le 31 mars, c'est obligatoire et en présentiel exclusivement. 

Présentation orale de 3 minutes (en anglais) du sujet de thèse; le jury statuera selon les critères suivants:

• capacités de communication, de présentation et de vulgarisation
• capacité à présenter et à décrire les objectifs du projet de recherche
• capacité à valoriser le potentiel et le caractère innovant du projet
• capacité à répondre aux questions du jury
• motivation pour le projet de recherche

Les présentations doivent être claires, concises et accessibles pour un public non scientifique.  Utilisation possible de 3 slides PPT (non animées)

Step 1: selection of 5 PhD students after an audition in front of a jury composed of 5 professors and 3 communication professionals. The 5 selected PhD students will receive a grant of CHF 10'000 each to be used, for example, to participate in international meetings, to follow online training courses, to visit laboratories abroad, or to cover the printing costs of their thesis.

Step 2: Production of short videos to present their thesis in 3 minutes to a non-scientific audience, and writing a presentation sheet. The videos and presentation sheets are then uploaded on the Faculty of Medicine website, as well as on the UNIGE's social networks.

•  This programme is exclusively open to PhD/MD-PhD students of the Faculty of Medicine as well as for PSLS students
• Candidates must have completed at least 18 months of their PhD by 31 mars 2023 and finish their PhD no sooner than June 2024 (in order to have time to disburse the grant).
• The selected PhD students commit to respect the schedule, to prepare themselves as well as possible for the video recording, and to prepare the summary of the thesis project on 1 page (FR or ENG).
• Thesis projects will be presented orally in English only (during the auditions and the videos).
• Supervisors must be informed of their student's participation and intellectual property issues must be settled beforehand.

Auditions will take the form of a 3-minute oral presentation (in English) of the thesis topic; the jury will decide on the basis of the following criteria:

• communication, presentation and outreach skills
• ability to present and describe the objectives of the research project
• ability to highlight the potential and innovative nature of the project
• ability to answer the jury's questions
• motivation for the research project

Presentations must be clear, concise and accessible to a non-scientific audience.  3 PPT slides (not animated) may be used.
