An Ambizione grant to unravel intracellular gradient establishment

Sofia Barbieri, junior lecturer in the Department of Cellular Physiology and Metabolism of the Faculty of Medicine of the UNIGE, obtained an Ambizione grant for her research.

SNSF Ambizione grants are highly competitive fundings allowing young researchers to conduct, manage and lead an independent project at a Swiss higher education institution. Using embryos of the nematode C. elegans as a model, Sofia Barbieri will investigate novel mechanisms of intracellular gradient formation by interactively combining experimental approaches to computational modelling. She aims to fill the need of quantitative and predictive tools for the understanding of biological phenomena.
