Mehdi obtained his MSc Degree in “Molecular Interactions and Therapeutics” from Jules Verne University of Amiens (France). In 2013, he started his PhD working on the impact of tumor microenvironment on Breast Cancer progression, through the regulation of ion channels expression and activity. In 2018, he joined the laboratory of Prof. Marc Chanson (PHYM Department, UNIGE, Geneva) focusing on the abnormal remodeling of the airway epithelium in cystic fibrosis and how it contributes to the airway’s predisposition to chronic infections.

His main interest is to investigate how the bidirectional communication between the cells and their environment regulates epithelial repair and regeneration.
