Audrey Leuba named Rector of the University of Geneva
The State Council has appointed today Professor Audrey Leuba as Rector for the period from April 1, 2024, to July 14, 2028.

On the proposal of the University Assembly, the State Council has appointed today Professor Audrey Leuba as Rector for the period from April 1, 2024, to July 14, 2028.
In its press release, the State Council thanks the Assembly for its work and notes with satisfaction that the designation process has been conducted efficiently and transparently. It also highlights Professor Leuba's excellent networks at the national and international levels, ''enabling the mobilization of institutional and political levers to address the major challenges of funding and positioning the University of Geneva in the landscape of Swiss and international higher education.»
For the State Council, the nomination of a women as Rector at the helm of the alma mater is a historic moment for the entire academic community and for the influence of Geneva on the Swiss and international academic stage.
This nomination coincides with the adoption today of the fifth objectives agreement (“convention d’objectifs”) between the State and the University, defining the major strategic challenges to be pursued for the years 2024 to 2027. The amount of 25.75 million planned for the next four years is intended for the objectives of development and consolidation of the institution's projects.
