Early Triassic climatic and marine environmental changes: Assessing the distribution and relative importance of volcanism, ocean redox and seawater temperature changes

Utilising a multi-proxy geochemical approach, we investigate the importance of marine environmental and climate change for marine biotic evolution following the End Permian Mass Extinction (EPME). 
Crucial to this is the understanding of the importance of massive volcanism for climate change and potential relationship with carbon cycle perturbations during this important period of Earth history, as well as the evolution of environmental parameters such as seawater temperature and ocean redox. 
Consequently, we analyse marine carbonates and biogenic fossils (e.g. conodonts, brachiopods) from widely dispersed palaeogeographical localities for their isotopic compositions (C, O, S, Sr, Nd). This is aimed at facilitating a better understanding of the relative timing, magnitude; as well as spatial consistency and distribution of environmental changes, which were probably important for the recovery and proliferation of Early Triassic marine fauna.
