Climate and Carbon Cycling during the Late Permian and Early Triassic

Franziska Blattmann, Torsten Vennemann

Following the End-Permian mass extinction, the Early Triassic experienced a delayed biotic recovery and global fluctuations of the carbon isotope budget. In the course of my PhD, I hope to gain a better understanding of the organic carbon cycle during the Early Triassic in particular changes in primary productivity and organic carbon burial using a multi-proxy approach. This project will mainly be focusing on high latitude sections, as this is where highest impact of climatic change is to be expected.
