Graduate of the HEC Business School in Paris, François Dermange began his career as a consultant with Arthur Andersen. He then studied theology in Paris and Geneva, where he wrote his thesis on Adam Smith (Le Dieu du marché, éthique, économie et théologie dans l'œuvre d'Adam Smith, Geneva, Labor et Fides, 2003). Since 1998 he has been full professor of ethics at the Faculty of Theology in Geneva, where he was dean for four years (2005-2009). One of his main areas of research is Calvin and the ethics of the Reformed tradition. He has published numerous articles in this field and is currently completing a book on Calvin's ethics. He also works on the ethics of economics and sustainable development, teaching economic ethics to HEC master's students.
