Katja Weigl holds a MSc in Economics and International Management from the University of Giessen (DE). She has complemented her university education with certifications in Project management/IPMA and in Public procurement/Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics (FOBL). Katja has numerous years of professional experience in international organizations, federal administration and public administrations as well as NGOs, where she was in charge of managing research projects and technical cooperation projects, and preparing publications and reports. She has also been responsible for strategic planning and administrative and financial management of programmes and projects in the area of European migration policy and in Public health (including FP7, H2020, SNSF, etc).

In 2021, Katja has joined the Research Services – Euresearch as Research Advisor. Katja is in charge of ERC programmes, and she is in charge of several programmes of the 2nd pillar of the Framework Programme Horizon Europe (Clusters 2 : Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society and 3 : Civil society for security) as well as the INTERREG programmes. Furthermore, she is the contact person for liaising with the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) for transitional measures and for direct funding of research projects.
