• Eligible costs: Fellowship basic grant: living costs, child allowance, research and conference costs, participation on travel expenses - Return grant: salary of the applicant, social security charges, research and conference costs
• Duration: 24 months (fellowship) and 3 to 12 months (return phase)
• Required letters: a confirmation from each host institution with the application.

Since 1 January 2025, Swiss organizations can fully participate in Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships as beneficiaries. This applies to both sub-programs (European/Global Fellowships). On this basis, it is not possible anymore for Swiss organizations to host a fellow during the Outgoing Phase of a Global Fellowship.

• Eligible costs: living and mobility allowances, family allowance (if applicable), research-training-networking costs

• Project duration: 12-36 months depending on the chosen sub-program

• Required letter: for Global Fellowships, letter of commitment signed by supervisor and department/institute hosting the Outgoing Phase in a Third Country; no letter is required for European Fellowships.

• Eligible disciplines: Molecular Biology and other fields of the Life Sciences
• Eligible costs: salary of fellow only (including social charges)
• Project duration: 12-24 months
• Required letters: acceptance letter from the receiving department/institute as well as two reference letters

• Postdoc eligibility window: ≤3 years after PhD
• Eligible disciplines: Potentially transformative research in the Life Sciences
• Eligible costs: living, research and travel allowances, and if applicable: child allowance, parental leave allowance and relocation allowance
• Project duration: 36 months

Swiss Postdoctoral Fellowships are a ‘transitional measure’ implemented by the SNSF between 2021 and 2024. This program was a direct result of Switzerland’s non-association to the EU Framework Program Horizon Europe. It will not be reconducted in 2025 due to the recent conclusion of negotiations on the association of Switzerland to Horizon Europe.

• Eligible costs: 1.8 mio CHF salary of PI and team, research costs
