The exhibition deals with a unique event, where for two days of celebrations, the Etruscans came back to life through a wooden theater temporarily built in the Capitoline square in Rome in 1513. On September 13 and 14, the Commune of Rome granted Roman citizenship to Julian and Lorenzo de' Medici, respectively brother and nephew of Pope Leo X. The iconography chosen is unusual: paintings along the walls of the theater illustrate all the gifts made by the Etruscans, alleged ancestors of Florence, to the Roman people. But are we really celebrating the renewed friendship between the two cities?
