Internship and thesis
The program of the master is designed to integrate one trimester of internship within public and private organizations.
Purpose of the internship
The purpose of an internship is to provide an opportunity for students to acquire work experience and apply the knowledge and skills learned throughout the Master program. The organization/company gains an additional staff member who can be assigned where need is greatest while recognizing an obligation to supporting the intern in acquiring new skills and exploring a career field.
Training establishment
The presence of several external professors and the Geneva environment (cf. below) makes it relatively easy to find very satisfying internship spots.
Students in previous years have undertaken internships in the following organizations: EuroFin Asia Group; European Forest Institute Global Development; Consultancy firm; Impact Economy; International Labour Organization, ILO; International Organization for Standardization, ISO; International Telecommunication Union , ITU; PriceWaterHouse; Private Banking; Private Clinic; The World Conservation Union ICUN -Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI); UNEP – Environmental Management Group; UNICEF Corporate Social Responsibility Unit; World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and WWF-India.
Thesis
At the end of the internship, the student can choose to either write an internship-based thesis suited for a direct transition into the professional world (possibly within the organization having hosted the internship) or an academic thesis independent of the internship thesis, suited for those willing to accomplish a PhD.
