The Multi-Messenger High-Energy Group of the Department of Particle Physics invites applications for
Postdoctoral and Maître Assistant Research AssociatE
The Département du Phisique Nucléaire et Corpusculaire (DPNC) of the University of Geneva is a worldwide-recognized center for fundamental research in physics, including Particle Physics, Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology, and provides an international, dynamic, and competitive environment for training of young researchers.
The Multi-messenger Astronomy group at the University of Geneva (UniGE/DPNC) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position within the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) project. The CTA is the next-generation ground-based gamma-ray observatory featuring tens of telescopes located at two sites in both hemispheres. It will allow probing the high energy cosmic ray sources with unprecedented sensitivity and angular resolution, in the energy domain from tens of GeV to hundreds of TeV
Job Description
The UniGE/DPNC group leads the Calibration Pipeline subsystem of the CTA Data Processing and Preservation System (DPPS) and contributes to the development of the Data Quality Pipeline. The DPPS is a software system responsible for the reconstruction, processing, quality monitoring, and preservation of data products of the CTA. The selected candidate will work on the development and implementation of the data quality monitoring tools, and related software infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
Experience with Data Quality Monitoring in the domain of (astro)particle physics
Strong knowledge of PythON
Familiarity with version control systems (Git/GitLab)
Ph.D. in Physics/Astronomy/Computer Science or related disciplinE
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with UI desigN
Experience in data analysis in the field of very high-energy gamma-ray astrophysics
Experience in web applications development
Experience in the development of complex SaaS application
Familiarity with continuous integration and development (CI/CD)
The successful candidate will be offered an initial 1-year contract, renewable. The salary corresponds to class 14 of the Canton of Geneva Echelles des Traitements and is commensurate with the experience of the candidate.

The Multi-Messenger High-Energy Group of the Department of Particle Physics invites applications for
Postdoctoral Research Associate
The group has established a rich program in Astroparticle Physics (Neutrinos and Gamma-rays), and in applications using Photosensors. The activity will be carried on in the context of a Department with broad expertise in particle Astroparticle physics, and with valuable electronics and mechanics workshops.
The candidate will be involved in the CTA project and the physics program of the large size telescope (LST). The candidate will be responsible of software development for the calibration, data quality monitoring and analysis of data in the context of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). She/he will be active in the development of the pipeline of the data and their calibration.
Experience with Cherenkov astronomy or telescope operations is an advantage. The positions are expected to last for the duration of the construction and early operations of CTA, young promising scientists are particularly welcome to apply.
To qualify, the candidate is required to have a PhD in Physics.
Candidates should have programming skills in C, C++ and python and possibly be familiar with data analysis in Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes.
Experience in testing equipment and performing experiments in the lab is consider a plus. Excellent command of the English language is desirable.
The post should be filled before July 2020.
Applications should be sent by email to:
