Launch of a joint PhD school in Life Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science
On June 1, 2018, the University of Geneva will open a new Doctoral School in Life Sciences shared between the Faculties of Medicine and Science, which will jointly award a Doctorate of Science. This innovative doctoral training meets international criteria of excellence, reflecting the recognized scientific excellence of the University of Geneva.
Current and future doctoral students will:
- Follow a scientifically demanding, experimental and theoretical training, corresponding to 20 ECTS
- Benefit from a fair assessment of the progress of their thesis project by a competent and rigorous committee that evaluates the scientific and human conditions in which the project develops
- Acquire the necessary professional interpersonal skills
- Get involved in the life of their doctoral school, as part of the PhD Student association, through interaction with the director of their program, or potentially as part of the board of the PhD school
- Be part of a dynamic and stimulating school that promotes the acquisition of substantial scientific knowledge, as well as curiosity and a spirit of discovery
The doctoral school proposes six specific programs:
- Biomedical Sciences
- Ecology and Evolution
- Genomics and Digital Health
- Molecular Biosciences
- Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Physics of Biology
