COURSE REGISTRATION
• Do I have to register for my courses? Is there a deadline?
Yes, you must register for your courses via your portail.unige.ch during the course registration period.
NOTE: The registration for courses on Moodle is not linked to the student office but only to your teachers. You must register via portail.unige.ch.
You will receive an email inviting you to register for your courses:• in October for annual and fall semester courses,
• in March for spring semester courses.
EXCEPTIONS:Course registration is not necessary for:
• Master in Earth Sciences
• Doctoral students
• Mobility students
• Pre/co-requisites/extra curricular study plans
• Master of Advanced Studies
• Students from other faculties (except Bachelor of « Archéologie préhistorique et anthropologie » students)
• Athena students
• Unregistered students
• I am missing one or more courses from my list, how do I register for them?
In October, you must register for your fall semester and annual courses.
In March, you must register for your spring semester courses. If you realise that you have forgotten to register for annual courses, please contact the student office by e-mail.
If you are missing a course that should appear, please contact the student office by e-mail.
I don’t have enough lines on my online form to register for all my courses, what should I do?
Please send an email to the student office, during the registration period, indicating how many additional lines you require and for which group.
All requests/enquiries regarding online registration must be sent by email only.
Please use only your institutional address (etu.unige.ch or unige.ch) and mention your full name and student number in order to easily authenticate yourself.
• I am missing a course that I have already taken twice, why?
If you have already made two attempts without passing the exam and you wish to use your third attempt, you must contact the student office by e-mail and request this particular course to be unlocked.
• I am missing grades from previous sessions, why?
Your registration form is not a transcript. It only shows the courses for which you must register (or possibly for which you can re-register to improve a grade).
If you have received a grade of 6 or "passed", the result will not be visible on your registration form because you have no interest in repeating it.
Your transcript is the official record of your grades. If you see all your grades on it, it's all in order.
• Why are courses that I have already passed visible?
The exams you have already passed, below the maximum grade of 6, are visible on your form.
You can either ignore them or re-register for them if you wish to improve your result.
But be careful, if your re-register, it will cancel the previous result!
• I do not have access to my 3rd year / Master's form because I have not yet finished my 2nd year / Bachelor's degree, how can I register?
Please download this form and send it by e-mail or to the student office, duly completed and signed by yourself and your Academic Advisor, within the deadline for course registration. .
• I don't have any more courses to validate, should I still submit my form?
If you have already validated all your courses and only have internships and/or thesis left, you can skip the online registration.
• I'm missing the monography/bibliography/workshop/thesis/final paper, is this normal?
There is no need to register for your term paper on your online registration form. We will receive your result directly from your teacher or Section in due time.
• I forgot to register for my classes on time, what can I do?
Course registration is open until the following Monday at 8:00 pm. It is important to know the important dates of the Faculty.
If you forgot to register in time, please download this form and send it by e-mail or to the student office duly completed and signed, as soon as possible.
• I have previously registered for a course that I have decided not to attend. Could you please remove this course from my study plan?
The student office does not delete any courses, especially if there is a grade attributed to it.
When you have successfully finished your degree, the student office will remove any courses for which no ECTS credits have been attributed from your final transcript (provided these courses are not compulsory or part of a group).
• How do I withdraw from a course?
It is not necessary to withdraw from a course registration. You will only need to not register for the exam.
Courses not taken will be automatically deleted from your final transcript.
