Corine FRISCHKNECHT

Corine FRISCHKNECHT holds a PhD in Sciences from the University of Geneva in the field of earthquakes. Her thesis received the PLANAT prize awarded by the Swiss national platform for natural hazards (2000).

Between 1993 and 2002, she was a researcher in multidisciplinary Swiss teams working on earthquakes in the frame of the International Decade for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDNDR) and on the major risk management research programme (study cases, Guatemala, Ukraine) for the Rectorate of the University of Geneva. From 1995 to 2013, she has been part of the multidisciplinary team that built up the programme that led to the current Master of Advanced Studies in Humanitarian Action of the Geneva Centre of Humanitarian studies.

From 2002-2009, she was mainly teaching and doing research in the field of natural hazards at the Faculty of Sciences, coordinating modules and thematic weeks in the frame of the MAS in Humanitarian Action and supervising master theses (MAS and MSc).

From 2008, she is the Scientific Coordinator of the specialised Certificate in Geological and Climate-related Risk (CERG-C) and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences from 2015.
