SNF AP Energy Grant for Professor Matteo Lupi

Congratulations to Prof. Matteo Lupi, who recently obtained an Assistant Professor Energy Grant of the National Science Foundation starting in July 2016.

The project is nicknamed GENERATE - GEophysical and Numerical Experiments for Reservoir Analysis and fluid-Transported Energy, and will involve two PhD students and two PostDoctoral fellows. GENERATE will combine numerical simulations and geophysical methods with the final goal of assessing the geothermal potential of the Great Geneva Basin. The project will focus on the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland, and will use the natural laboratory of the Rio Sucio Fault System, Costa Rica, as a proxy to asses the effects of incoming seismic waves (i.e. seismic external forcing) on geothermal systems.
