Distribution of Open source Python project

- Workshop-

Since software development occupies a growing place in innovation, the Science Innovation Hub (SIH) hosts this workshop given by Denis Rosset about open source python programming and publishing.
Due to the practical nature of the courses, there are only eight places available. The course series will take place on three consecutive Tuesdays (12h15 to 13h45).

Requirements

Having used Python in research for a year (writing scripts is fine)
Having a small project to open source or commercialize (an utility script is fine)
Already using an IDE for Python code (Spyder, Atom, VS Code, PyCharm) ; we'll use VS Code
Familiarity with the command-line (e.g. running "pip install" commands, using the IPython shell)
Having a GitHub account, and basic Git use (using an easy GUI such as GitHub Desktop is fine)

Instructor

Denis Rosset is a maître-assistant in the Quantum Theory group. He obtained his PhD in quantum information in 2015, and since then published over 100'000 lines of open source code in topics such as quantum information, group theory, data visualization and astrophysics.

In a recent project, he worked with an astronomy PhD student to clean up and publish two of his Python packages. He has expertise in modern Python programming including latest infrastructure tools.
