Advanced Researchers Group
The group of Advanced Researchers (AR) at CISA brings together members of the corps de collaborateurs et collaboratrices de l’enseignement et la recherche (CCER) and of the scientific staff at CISA. The goal of the group is to support the careers of affective scientists past postdoc level, especially those with temporary positions. The group offers them a voice as a CISA community. In addition, they can benefit from the training activities organized by the Education & Training program and increase their networking opportunities.
Eligibility criteria
The group of CISA Advanced Researchers is open to all advanced researchers in the CCER with Maître Assistant (MA) or Collaborateur/-trice Scientifique (CS) positions, as well as self-funded Marie Curie fellows, who are conducting research on affective phenomena at UNIGE or another Swiss university, irrespective of discipline, and who would like to become active members of the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences (CISA) and expand their interdisciplinary competences in the broad domain of the affective sciences.
Members exit the group when they leave academia, Switzerland, or stop doing research on emotion, or if they acquire a stable long-term position (like professor, MER or CC), or become a CISA PI.
Benefits
The members of the Advanced Researchers group enjoy two main benefits: a varied program of training opportunities and a large academic network.
Training activities
Most of the training activities organized by the E&T Program are open to the AR group. AR members are encouraged to suggest the organization of activities according to their needs. They are also eligible to request personal meetings with the invited speakers/instructors of the program activities. Teaching for the doctoral and postdoctoral community can be organized.
Academic networking
All members of the AR are part of a mailing list where academic activities, jobs, calls and other events of interest to the affective sciences are advertised. The training activities provide regular opportunities to meet with the other researchers and members of the Center. In addition, once a year, the whole network comes together for the CISA Annual Research Forum (ARF). The members of the AR are also invited to mentor younger peers in the doctoral school and to participate in community building activities.
Commitments of the members
The members of the group commit to supporting one another as colleagues by sharing information, their experience and expertise; they also commit to participating in and contributing to the Education & Training program and life at CISA.
More specifically, the members are expected to attend the CISA Annual Research Forum and be available, to the extent possible, for collaboration in knowledge transfer activities or training activities organized by the Center, such as the CISA summer school and the Lecture Series (for example, occasionally chairing a session with a speaker in their field).
UNIGE members of the AR should also upload copies of their emotion publications to the Archive Ouverte of the UNIGE specifying research group “Affective Sciences” (attention: more than one research group is possible).
Advanced Researchers' representative
The Advanced Researchers group is represented at CISA by one of its members. The representative liaises with the head of Education & Training and is available to the other members of the group for questions or remarks concerning the group or life at the Center.
