Apprendre des autres : L'appréciation des émotions et le cas informatif d'intérêt
La thèse examine les nombreuses façons dont nous pouvons apprendre des expressions émotionnelles des autres et les intègre dans une théorie unifiée nommée l'apprentissage social affectif (voir par exemple, Psychological Review, CUP). Elle se concentre en particulier sur l'intérêt des autres, soulignant comment, en recueillant ce type d'informations affectives auprès des autres, nous pouvons apprendre ce qui devrait nous intéresser et ce qui ne devrait pas nous intéresser. Lorsque ces informations sont recueillies dans un cercle relativement interconnecté, auprès d'amis ou de membres de la famille, par exemple, ce n'est rien de moins qu'une culture (de valeurs) qui est transmise et perpétuée.
Learning from others: Emotion Appreciation and the Informative case of Interest
The thesis considers the many ways in which we can learn from the emotional expressions of others – emotion contagion, social referencing, social appraisal, natural pedagogy – and shapes them into a unified theory of affective social learning (e.g., Psychological Review, CUP). In particular, it focuses on other people’s interest, pointing out how, by picking up this type of affective information from others, we can learn what should interest and what should not interest us. When this information is gathered in a relatively interconnected circle, from friends or family, for example, nothing less than a (value) culture is transmitted and perpetuated.
