Karlis Alksnis joined the Unitec team in December 2018. Admitted to the Geneva Bar, Karlis holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Geneva and an LL.M. from the University of Sydney. After field missions as an ICRC delegate in Rwanda, Jerusalem and Iraqi Kurdistan, he joined the law firm of de Pfyffer & Associates, where he specialised in civil and criminal litigation as well as international mutual assistance in criminal matters.

He continued his career with the international group SGS, where he successively held the positions of International Legal Counsel, Claims Manager, Sales and Marketing Manager, Senior Legal Counsel and Vice President Mergers & Acquisitions. Karlis has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, claims management, developing private and public partnerships and coordinating mergers & acquisitions. He also works in French, German, Italian and Spanish.
