Anton Mangstl

Anton Mangstl is a specialist in Higher Ecucation, Information and Knowledge Management as well as Agronomy and served from April 2011 until June 2016 as Full Professor and Vice President at the German-Jordanian University. Prior to this appointment he was, for almost 15 years, Director, Office of Knowledge Exchange, Research and Extension (OEK) at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Rome, Italy. Anton Mangstl was actively involved in the Organization’s endeavour to transform FAO into a Knowledge Organization through the OEK services and products for information and knowledge sharing, e-learning and knowledge networking, multi-lingual cross-media publishing, communication for development, research and extension.

Prior to joining FAO in 1996, Anton Mangstl served as Director of the Centre for Agricultural Documentation and Information (ZADI) Bonn, Germany. Earlier, he was Deputy to the Head of the Working Group on Crop Production and Informatics, Centre for Life and Food Sciences in Agriculture, Technische Universität München, Germany.

He completed his Ph.D. at the Technische Universität München in 1978 and was appointed Honorary Professor by the National Agricultural University of Kiev, Ukraine in 2001.
