Josephine Gitome

Dr Josephine Gitome is a Kenyan working in Kenyatta University, (KU) Nairobi, as a lecturer in Philosophy and Religious Studies Department and the Founder Director, Centre for Refugee Studies & Empowerment Kenyatta University (KU) since 2012 July to date. Dr. Gitome participated in research pertaining to the Feasibility Study on the Provision of Higher Education for Long-Term Refugees in Dadaab Camps, Kenya in 2011-2012 which led to formation of BHER and establishment of KU Dadaab Campus: - A satellite Campus which provides Education access to the refugees in Dadaab Camps, Nationals and UN staff working in the refugee camps. Before then 2009-2012, she was Director, Regional Centre for Capacity Development, KU. Since September 2010, Dr. Gitome has served as the institutional representative for Kenyatta University (KU) in the BHER Partnership. She has established KU partnerships with UNHCR & WTK, Danish Refugee Council and the University of Geneva. She has participated and presented papers in international Conferences.

She has a PhD on Adolescent Pastoral Care and counseling (enculturation approach) from Kenyatta University.
