Michelle Yonetani

Michelle Yonetani is a Senior Strategic Advisor at the Norwegian refugee Council’s  Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, based in Geneva. Over the past six years, Michelle has led the development of IDMC’s global monitoring, analysis and research on displacement in the context of disasters and climate change, including in her role as the lead author and coordinator of the annual “Global Estimates” report on disaster displacement. Prior to joining IDMC, she worked with international NGOs and local civil society networks in disaster preparedness and response programming and humanitarian advocacy, primarily in disaster-affected countries in Asia and the Pacific. She is Irish and Japanese, and holds a Masters degree in International Policy from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in the US.
