·        Biography 

  • Dr. Mory Keita is working as a Technical Officer in charge of Risk Assessment in the Emergency Preparedness and Response Programme of the WHO Regional Office for Africa. He is extremely passionate about improving public health in developing countries, where there is so much room for improvement. He focuses on emergency preparedness and readiness, outbreaks response, communicable diseases epidemiology, health systems strengthening, and program management. He has been involved in numerous emergency responses as WHO Incident Manager in DRC, Guinea, and Senegal.
  • Dr. Mory Keita graduated from the University of Conakry in 2005 with a Master’s degree in Applied Statistics to Biomedical Sciences and in 2007 with a Medical Doctor degree. In 2008, he went to the Pasteur Institute of Paris for a Diploma in in Surveillance, Alert and Outbreaks Investigation, and to the Pasteur Institute of Madagascar for a Certificate in Malariology in 2011. In 2014, he majored in Public Health Science with a Master’s degree from the University of Liege. Interested in leadership and management of international organizations, he then went to Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University in 2015, where he majored with a Master’s degree in International Relations focusing on intergovernmental and non-governmental program management. Along the same path he completed a ten-month Executive Global Health Leadership programme at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine under a fellowship from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

·        Why is this PhD important for you (for your career, organization or country)

  • Early in my career, I aimed to become an African Leader in global health, supporting communities to access quality care and health resources. A PhD seemed to me necessary to build organizational capacity for strategic leadership and political skills to influence in the Global health Arena (Health Diplomacy and Negotiation).
  • The University of Geneva’s Ph.D. program in Global Health is reputed to be effective. It is also the one that corresponds perfectly to my personal interests and professional goals.
