biography

Anders is a global health professional with extensive experience across clinical, national, and international health sectors. Currently, he works as an evaluation manager at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, focusing on strategic and thematic evaluations that inform Gavi's strategy, investments, and impact. Prior to Gavi, he spent nine years in roles at organizations like the WHO-Intercountry center for Oral health, Global Fund, Global Health Center, WHO, and FIND, contributing to programmes and projects in oral health, malaria, TB, HIV, and vaccine implementation. His work has spanned areas such as social determinants of health, access to medicines, and health system evaluations. He holds a bachelors in dental medicine and masters degree in Global health at the University of Geneva. Anders is passionate about health policy, global health governance, international development, and health systems strengthening. His diverse experiences offer him a unique perspective on the complexities of global health challenges.
Furthermore, Anders is published in peer reviewed high impact journals such as the Lancet, the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and grey literature such as Think Global health of the Council of foreign relations with citations from top experts in the field.

why is this phd important for me (my career, organization or country)? 

This PhD is essential for advancing my career and contributing to my organisation's  mission of improving global health. It will deepen my expertise in health systems particulalry on African vaccine manufacturing capacities, and also enabling me to design and evaluate impactful interventions. The research skills I gain from this program will enhance  my ability to make data-driven decisions and improve health outcomes globally. The PhD will empower me to bridge the gap between research and practical implementation, driving innovation in global health governance.
