·       Biography

Devy is a Senior Scientist at FIND, working with various partners to support development and implementation of diagnostics for outbreak-prone and emerging infectious diseases in low- and middle-income countries. With nearly a decade of experience in both private and public sectors, and a focus on global health and infectious diseases research, she believes that fostering partnerships and relying on local knowledge improves health outcomes. Her interests lie in laboratory systems strengthening and outbreak preparedness and response

 

Her previous positions include: project manager for a large HIV-testing study in Uganda with the University of California San Francisco, APHL/CDC Emerging Infectious Diseases fellow studying rotavirus vaccines at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (U.S. CDC), and laboratory coordinator in Sierra Leone with the U.S. CDC during the 2013-2015 Ebola epidemic in West Africa. At FIND, Devy manages projects on viral hemorrhagic fevers (e.g. Ebola, Lassa) and COVID-19.

·       Why is this PhD important for you (for your career, organization or country)

My long-term career goal is to someday have a senior leadership role in an international organization focused on health. I believe that the training at the Institute of Global Health will help me be successful in that goal.

 

·       Why did you choose our PhD?

The flexibility and interdisciplinary nature of this program was very attractive, allowing me to apply my studies to my current work, and vice versa.
