biography
My purpose is to help expand sustainable access to health through evidence, partnerships, and marketing solutions. At Gavi since a decade I coordinate the ~400 M USD per year vaccine programs against pneumonia and diarrhea in children across 50+ countries together with WHO, UNICEF, CDC, Gates Foundation, PATH, CHAI, Every Breath Counts and JSI. These programs are among Gavi's largest by value, volume, innovation, and impact. As a part-time PhD candidate at the University of Geneva, I am researching the determinants of Governments' demand for vaccines made by the South for the South. Previously at Novartis Global Marketing for more than a decade I helped launch seven therapies and vaccines internationally, against diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, diabetic retinopathy, influenza. I'm a mother of two girls with Italian, Swiss and Indian origin, and I value care, equality, and excellence
WHY IS THIS PHD IMPORTANT FOR ME (FOR MY CAREER , ORGANIZATION OR COUNTRY)
My research through this PhD will help inform demand predictability for regional vaccine manufacturing, which will help minimize sustainable prices and risk of vaccine scarcity
WHY DID I CHOOSE this PHD PROGRAM?
While at Gavi I observed unexpected patterns in the uptake of vaccines made by the South for the South and was curious to investigate that further in an academically rigorous way. This PhD is perfect for that: it enables to generate insight while exploring data through multiple perspectives: the one of Medicine and the one of Marketing (applied not for profit) fully enabling the interdisciplinary collaboration that Global Health promotes. Furthermore it leverages actual professional experience, which keeps the research grounded close to where impact happens.
